A Valentine’s Day gift for people you care about
Small gifts maintain friendship , loving gestures maintain relationships. Many people want to express their feelings on Valentine’s Day – with words, small gifts or a few nice hours together. Nothing easier than this!
Here are our diverse ideas and suggestions for gifts for the day of new and long-term lovers !
Time for cordiality: This is how it gets romantic!
Clearly: There is no romance without candles ! They are the be-all and end-all when it comes to creating a cozy atmosphere . But you can also make hearts beat faster with other little decorative tricks – this is how you celebrate the day of love with beautiful surprises :
- At the breakfast table : napkins with cute motifs or lovely sayings give the day an atmospheric start. Do you only have monochrome copies at home? No problem, just cut them into a heart shape!
- In view : Print out a photo at the drugstore or at home that shows you and your favorite person. Place it on the windowsill in the living room and enjoy a surprised look, which will soon be followed by a smile.
- On pieces of paper : Stick small messages of love on or on things that your favorite person uses every day. For example, this could be a “Good morning, my angel!” at the coffee machine and a “You are beautiful!” at the bathroom mirror. This ensures touching moments throughout the day.
- In your ear : not new, but always nice – create a personal playlist with songs that reminds you both of beautiful and special experiences.
Our tip: If you can’t meet the person you love in person on Valentine’s Day, surprise him with a handwritten little letter of love in the mailbox , a bouquet of flowers delivered or simply with a few fresh rolls or croissants that you can hang on his front door. Video calls or audio files can also convey kind words and thoughts. With a little creativity, all your loved ones can get a suitable Valentine’s Day gift !

No matter whether it’s a bigger surprise or a small gift: Valentine’s Day gifts are easy to make yourself . How about the following ideas, for example:
- Fire and flame : Surprise your loved one or another familiar person with a sea of lights from candles . Simply set up numerous tea lights in different sizes . Do you have a terrace or garden? Perfect! Then light a fire of love in the truest sense of the word – with sparklers , for example. Or arrange individual tea lights to form a large heart and recite a few kind words in this setting.
- Film off : The new year is still young and yet some memories are already a long time ago. Go on a journey through time with your loved one by cutting together a short film from photos taken together . This is easy to do with most photo editing programs . We are sure: this will make your eyes wide open! By the way: Short films can also be sent digitally as a greeting message to other loved ones who you can’t have with you at the moment.
- Skin to skin : There is hardly anyone who doesn’t enjoy a massage . So how about a little break in your own four walls?
- Wellness for the soul: Your own bathroom can also become a place of relaxation (for two). Light candles, draw in a hot bubble bath and put on calm music – it will be really romantic in the home spa!
- A table for two : Not new, but tried and tested! As we all know, the way to your heart is through your stomach. Conjure up your favorite meal or bake a cake for your loved one . By the way: Homemade granola packaged in small jars and lovingly labeled is also an excellent little gift for your mom or a friend !
- You and Me : Arrange a date – at home on the sofa! It is best to serve the invitation at the breakfast table . And before things get romantic in the evening, everyone retreats to their own rooms to make themselves beautiful. Order your favorite pizza , put on a romantic film or dance around the living room together to cuddly skirts: heart palpitations are guaranteed this evening!
- Time together : online wine tasting ensures enjoyment and a dance class on YouTube ensures fun . You can share the most important thing you have together: your time .

Saint Valentine
For many people, Valentine ‘s Day is a fixed date in their calendar. But why do we actually celebrate it ? According to tradition, Valentine’s Day goes back to Saint Valentine . He was a poor priest who lived in Rome in the third century. At this time, the anti-Christian Emperor Claudius the Second ruled. Valentine, on the other hand, felt strongly connected to Christianity and concluded marriages according to Christian ceremonies – including those of soldiers who were actually supposed to remain unmarried.
This was probably the reason why he was beheaded on February 14, 269 on the emperor’s orders. In 469, Pope Gelasius the First declared the anniversary of Saint Valentine’s death a memorial day – and then Valentine’s Day was born in its original form!
“One can only see well with the heart”
– Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
Today, many people still celebrate February 14th, which is all about love . It doesn’t always have to be a trip to a fancy restaurant; Valentine’s Day can also be celebrated in a wonderfully romantic way at home !
No matter whether and how you celebrate Valentine’s Day: A little gift or kind words are a real balm for the soul, especially in times of Corona . Let your creativity flow and celebrate your feelings. Because when we express this, we are usually rewarded with an extra portion of warmth from those around us!
