Our DIY tip: Make your own flower box
Admittedly, a large bouquet of roses is a beautiful sight . A delicate, compact flower box makes at least as much of an impression . You can use different flowers for these, but the classic version with roses is particularly beautiful .
For a homemade flower box with fresh flowers you will need :
- a beautiful gift box with a lid in the shape of your choice
- Roses or other flowers
- Floral foam
How to do it :
- Cut the floral foam so that it fills the entire box .
- Shorten the flowers so that the lid can still be closed when the stems are in the floral foam.
- Arrange the flowers, making sure that all of the floral foam is covered and no longer visible .
- Depending on the variant: Place fresh flowers in the water or treat them accordingly for preservation .
Forever: How do you preserve flowers for the Flowerbox?
If you decide to preserve fresh flowers so that they bloom endlessly, you have several options :
- Spray flowers with hairspray and hang upside down in a warm place .
- Treat roses or other flowers with glycerin . To do this, mix glycerin from the pharmacy with water in a ratio of 1:2. Put this mixture in a vase and place the flowers in it . When small drops emerge from the petals, the flowers are preserved .
- Heat the wax and immerse the flowers upside down . Place in a bottle to dry. Important: After drying, dip into a second wax bath.
Our tip: You can also avoid canning . The best way to do this is to line the box with waterproof, self-adhesive foil and moisten the floral foam a little . To ensure that the fresh flowers last a little longer, place them in a bowl of water before putting them in and let them soak for an hour.
In love, engaged, withered: how do you care for a flower box?
